Transportation

Golf carts are the default way to get around.

Not a novelty — the trail network and wide streets are built for it. Most people buy from Gipson Golf Carts, at 7000 Alameda Dr — the neighborhood's own dealer for new and pre-owned carts, parts, and service. Call (916) 806-0920 or just stop by; carts also turn up often in the Buy & Sell Facebook group if you'd rather buy used from a neighbor.

Carts used only within the residential streets or on the golf course don't need anything special. The rules change the moment a cart crosses Highway 16 (the road into the village and produce stands): by CSD ordinance, it needs a stop lamp, a rear reflector, and a horn during the day, plus headlamps and taillamps after dusk — and whoever's driving needs a valid driver's license. Mirrors, seatbelts, turn signals, and a windshield are allowed but not required.

Gate barcodes work the same way for cart and car alike — most residents get one from the Rancho Murieta Association so the gate scans you through instead of stopping to check ID; apply through the Association (see Utilities below).

Utilities & the HOA

The Rancho Murieta Association (the HOA) and the Rancho Murieta Community Services District (CSD, the local water/sewer agency and the body behind Security) are two separate organizations — utilities transfer to your name at closing, but plan to contact both within about 10 days of move-in to confirm your accounts.

F.A.Q.

A few things every new resident ends up asking in the first month or so.

There are scenic trails around Lake Calero and Lake Chesbro. A map of the neighborhood's trails is available through the Rancho Murieta Association at ranchomurieta.org.

Where can I purchase a golf cart?

Gipson Golf Carts, at 7000 Alameda Dr, is the primary dealer: (916) 806-0920, gipsongolfcarts.com. Carts are also frequently sold in the Rancho Murieta Buy & Sell Facebook group.

How can I attend board meetings?

CSD board meetings are open to the public, held the third Wednesday of each month at 5pm at the District office (15160 Jackson Rd), and community participation is encouraged. Details at ranchomurietacsd.com.

How can I golf in the neighborhood?

Rancho Murieta Country Club is members-only. As a non-member, the way in is a golf package booked directly through The Murieta Inn & Spa — or being the guest of a member.

Where can I find more local vendors?

Rancho Murieta Online, the neighborhood's largest Facebook group, has years of recommendation threads for products and services in the area.

On what days are local concerts held?

ETC's website, etc-rm.org, has the dates for the full summer concert season at the Lake Clementia Amphitheater.

Where can I swim?

Swimming is permitted in Lake Clementia, as well as in the Cosumnes River — the most popular spot is the swimming beach a short walk from Lake Clementia.

Just closed, or about to? I'm happy to walk you through all of this in person.
