Rancho Murieta / a local's guide

Eat & shop

The village sits just outside the gate.

Rancho Murieta itself is residential — the restaurants, the grocery store, the hardware store, all of it, sit in a small village on Murieta Drive right outside the guarded entrance. It's a two-minute drive, not an errand, and between what's there and two produce stands a few minutes further down Jackson Road, you rarely need to go further than that.

Restaurants & bars

Most of it does double duty — dinner early, a drink later.

The Local Bean opens before sunrise for coffee and breakfast. The Backyard BBQ and The Gate — the latter inside The Murieta Inn & Spa, doing genuine farm-to-fork cooking off their own five-acre Angel Wing Farm — both double as neighborhood bars once the kitchen slows down. El Gallo and Go 4 Pizza round out the quick options, and a short drive out to Sloughhouse gets you The Slough House Kitchen, a proper sit-down dinner worth the detour.

Groceries & fresh produce

One full grocery store, plus two farm stands worth the detour.

Bel Air handles the day-to-day. For the good stuff, Davis Ranch has supplied Rancho Murieta for decades — famous for Sloughhouse sweet corn, U-pick produce, and cut-your-own Christmas trees in December. Strutz Farm, a few minutes further, grows a surprising number of mandarin varieties and juices them fresh in season.
